“Email Marketing Brings In The Best Return On Investment”

“Email Marketing Brings In The Best Return On Investment”
Are you missing out ?!

Research conducted by the Direct Marketing Association in America reveals some interesting facts about Email Marketing.

The return on investment from e-mail far surpasses other channels of marketing and advertising.

For every dollar spent in 2008, Email Marketing brought in $45.06 return on investment (ROI)

The Direct Marketing Association’s Power of Direct economic impact study revealed this compares favourably to non-email internet marketing of $19.94.  (Non-email internet marketing is classed as websites selling merchandise etc, but whose businesses do not market to clients through email.)

Compare this to statistics for Catalogue Marketing which delivered $7.28 for every dollar spent in 2008 and Email Marketing is by far the most cost effective and economical way to advertise.

Not surprisingly non-catalogue direct marketing’s ROI was $15.55 for every dollar in 2008, according to the study.

But what is surprising is…

Companies are slow to embrace Email Marketing despite the massive ROI advantage.

The Direct Marketing Association estimated marketers spent $600 million on e-mail in 2008 and will spend $700 million on it in 2009.

In comparison, the Direct Marketing Association estimated marketers spent $24.1 billion on non-e-mail Internet marketing in 2008 and will spend $28 billion on it in 2009.

Telephone marketing and direct mail account for most of direct marketers’ spending with telephone accounting for 24% in 2008 and 23.2% in 2009, and direct mail accounting for 19.9% in 2008 and 19.8% in 2009, according to the Direct Marketing Association.

However, e-mail marketing’s growth during that period – 13.6% – was the highest of the various marketing channels.

This tells us…

Email Marketing is on the rise and consumers are looking at fast and efficient means to satisfy their buying needs.

In other news, the Direct Marketing Association projects that in 2009, for the first time Internet sales will surpass all other channels.

Businesses that can actively target their client groups with meaningful email marketing messages and direct customers to their websites are in for increased sales and greater return on investments than traditional marketing methods.

Email Marketing is cost effective, economical and sound business practice in today’s consumer environment.

The smart businesses will build customer loyalty, increase their brand awareness and decrease costly overheads.

The Direct Marketing Association went on to deduce, Email Marketing will have driven $28 billion in sales by the end of 2008 and will drive $32.6 billion in sales in 2009.

Doesn’t it make sense to start Email Marketing in your business?

“Email Marketing Response Rates”

Hi Everyone

I am often asked about Email Marketing Response Rates and what are the numbers I should strive for.

“Is it 2%, 5%, 10%, 20% ?”  “What are acceptable, email marketing response
rates?”

Well the simple answer is these numbers mean nothing.

Yes, nothing !

The only numbers which mean anything are the ones which put dollars
in your bank account.

It is conversion which is most important as this transcribes  to money in the bank.

I am a fan though of two statistics in email marketing.

1. Open Rates and
2. Read Rates

These email marketing response rates give me two vital pieces of information.

Firstly, whether the recipient likes me enough to open the email in the first place and secondly, the number of times the email is read.

You see email marketing is about the List, the Relationship you have with the list and then the Offer.

If the Open and Read Rates are high and the conversion is not there then it
is normally about the Offer (it just isn’t good enough for people to take action).

So,  with email marketing response rates make sure you are measuring
your open and read rates – it will let you know if the some vital ingredient is wrong i.e. headlines, sub headings etc.

but more importantly…

keep track of your conversion rate – because that is where the money is.

“Email Marketing Guru Reveals A Secret Which Most Internet Marketers Do Not Want You To Know”

“Email Marketing Guru Reveals A Secret Which Most Internet
Marketers Do Not Want You To Know”

Hi Everyone

I am about to reveal to you a secret which most internet marketers know
but they do not wish to tell you.

The really successful, long term guys do but the ‘newbies’ to the game
will sell you their systems to make money on-line and tell you, you can too.

And…

Maybe you can for awhile.

But…

“You Cannot Collect Enough Leads On-Line To Sustain a Profitable Business”

There I said it !

You see, if are relying on getting leads  just from your website than your
business model is floored.

If this is what you are doing it’s Ok, it’s not your fault.  It was what you
were told would work.

Let me help with some simple tips.

If you have any place of business in which a person must physically enter then you must have a fast convenient way to collect their details.

Put a sign at your register or receptionist’s desk and
ask if they would like to join your ‘free mailing list’ to keep in touch with
promotions, specials, discounts, member rewards from time to time.

Create a quick and easy form which they can fill in which includes
email address as well as their postal address.

When was the last time somebody asked you to join a list (off-line).
Businesses simply do not do it and it’s dumb not to.  So, get cracking and
start collecting names, addresses, dates of birth now.

Make sure you follow up with them within 48 hours  when they do
join your off-line list.

If they have an email address send them an email thanking them.
This way you can confirm their email address is correct.

Give them something free as a special thank you for signing up.
This could be a discount voucher or a free item.  Make sure you
place an expiry date on the form – give them a sense of urgency.

If you do not have a store then simply start thinking how can I get
leads ‘off-line’.

Maybe you could sponsor a sporting, church or book club.  Do
this with the proviso you get access to the database.

Place a small ad in the local newspaper telling asking people
to send in the coupon to get your free report on your topic.

Try contacting Lions, Apex Clubs etc. they are always looking
for speakers.  Maybe you go along to a monthly meeting ???

There are many ways to collect leads off-line.  Think, think, think…

because…

If you are simply relying for your on-line presence to collect names then your business model is floored.

P.S. No doubt email campaigns are one the most effective way to market.
So make sure whatever you do – COLLECT THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Do You Have An USP ?

Hi Everyone

Do You Have Your USP Yet?

It stands for Unique Selling or Sales Proposition

One of the biggest issues any site, niche based, or mainstream faces, is their unique position in the market.

If you’ve not got a unique position, then you’ll find that you’ve got nowhere to ‘stand out’ or promote yourself.

For instance I am known as Australia’s Email Marketing Guru.

What are you known for in your business ?????

USP’s were originally defined around the 40′s, as a position a company took to make them stand out from their competitor and make the customers of said competitor switch to them.

It works, basically, as an understandable and tangible reason for people to buy your product, over that of other, competing products – clear and tangible can be actual, measurable reasons, or a benefit that your competitor doesn’t offer.

For example, a bank in the UK is promoting themselves on the concept that their:

  • Call centres are all in the UK – so no one is dealing with crackly lines, or broken English due to the call centres being based in a lower cost area of the world.  (Hmmm… seems Australian Banks should consider this !)
  • They have no middle men – which means there’s no commissions to pay to anyone.
  • They have NO share holders, so don’t charge money for things that should be free.

That’s the USP for that bank – and its resulted in many people switching to them.

Your unique selling position is a clearly defined statement of what your business stands for – what makes it special.

It’s the thing that makes your business all you.

and

Remember PEOPLE BUY FROM FRIENDS !

Your USP could be your customer service position – whether it’s to do with your response time, or your guarantee, in fact it can be anything that makes you ‘different’ from your peers.

The only caveat to this is to make sure it’s a clear difference – anything unclear, or too technical may not work, or be completely overlooked by your customers, thereby creating no reason for them to switch to you or choose you over their competitors.

Here’s a couple of examples where big businesses have used an USP with success.  See if you can identify the company.

1. The Burgers are Better at …………………..

2. Finger Lickin’ Good

3. Things Go Better With…..

Get the picture?

Try not to make it too wishy washy like I have seen on many butchers’ windows.

“Please to Meet You – Meat To Please You”

This doesn’t say anything about how they are different to their competitors.

Make sure you create your USP which identifies how you are different from your competitors.

Especially in these economic times – customers are and will become more discerning.

Cheers and Great Selling

Kurt

PS: Leave a comment and let me know what your USP is.  I’ll send it out to my list which will effectively be good advertising for you.

PPS: Include your URL in the comment – I am happy for people to take alook at your site.

Be Strong With Your Email Marketing

Hi Everyone

Be strong with your email marketing.

What I mean is not everyone is going to like you.

Be true to yourself and BELIEVE what you are doing is helping people.

Most people fear rejection…

and that’s ok as long as you do not let it inhibit you.
Not everyone will like you.  That’s life!

But…

there will be enough people who will like you and those
are the ones that will stay with you over the years and be good
customers.

I get the occasional unsubscribe from my email marketing lists- and that’s fine.

But I get more sign up’s from people wanting some tips and tricks to help them with their business as well.

Now, let me ask you, “Should I be disappointed that some people
unsubscribe?”

“No. It’s Ok.”   They are in need of someone or something else at this stage of their life.

And…

should I be patting myself on my back every time someone says they like what I do – again the answer is “No”.

The bottom line is, you have to do what you feel is the most
benefit, the most help to your customers and subscribers and
listen to honest feedback, but ignore everything else.

That’s the blunt truth. You have to be strong.

You can’t let a little praise go to your head and you can’t let a little blame
or dislike of what you’re doing discourage you in anyway.

You have to be yourself and whenever negative or positive forces
try altering your path, you must ignore them and keep building
value and usefulness into everything you’re doing.

Learn how to create VALUE…

Tangible, functional products and services that are REALLY USEFUL to
your prospects and customers.

You create “value” by being yourself and building a little piece of “YOU” into everything you do.

And that will expose you to take a hit from someone.

But…

I guarantee it WILL NOT be a knock-out blow.

Just pick yourself up, brush yourself off and keep going.

because…

YOU ARE STRONG !
