Email Marketing: At The Centre Of Social Networking

Hi Everyone

A new report soon released by The Relevancy Group discusses how Email marketing is at the centre of all Social Networking.

You can download the entire report here:  REPORT.

It is best revealed by this diagram.

Email is at the centre of all Social Media

Email Is At The Centre Of All Social Media

As everyone has an email address and most often more than one email address – Email Marketing is so RELEVANT in today’s world.

“We need an email address to purchase goods online, conduct banking and even create social profiles.  MySpace is opening up its closed newtwork to email traffic and it is understood Facebook will follow suit which makes these social network sites look more like ISP’s” – the report further discusses.

For sophisticated email marketers the need to channel messages to the  right person is now more important than ever.

Segmentation of your Lists and creating sub-groups will allow the email marketer to target the right message to the right person at the right time.

If you are not using email marketing in your business – WHY NOT ?

The relevancy of it is so important in today’s market place.

Email Marketing – “Next Week Is A Great Opportunity”

Hi Everyone

Next week in Australia is the Melbourne Cup.
For the uninitiated it’s a horse race that is said to stop our Nation.

The Melbourne Cup is run over 3200 metres (the longest
distance a horse competes in Australia) with the winner declared a champion by the millions of people who watch.

The funny part is most true punters don’t bet on the Melbourne Cup.
To pick the winner is too hard.

But…

More money is outlaid on bets on the Melbourne Cup than any other horse race in Australia.

because…

the mums and dads, brothers and sisters, aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews all like to have a go to try to win this grand ol’ race.

They want to brag to family and friends they picked the winner.

If successful they wear the victory with honour, pride & with a
great big smile and fatter wallet.

If they can’t get to a TAB to place a bet, you will see them enter a Melbourne Cup Sweepstake at their office, their home or whenever they can find one.

And this is the FANTASTIC opportunity which awaits you.

You see, Australia’s love to have a go at picking the winner of the Melbourne Cup.

So what has this got to do with you???

Well, everything.

It’s an opportunity to hold your own Melbourne Cup Sweepstake.

Now before you get all defensive and say, “What ? How?”
Let me help you.

Next Monday and/or Tuesday in every newspaper around Australia will be a sweepstake page.
You simply draw a customer’s name out of a hat and draw a horse’s name out of another hat and marry them together.

The person is allocated a horse and if it runs 1st, 2nd or 3rd they win a prize. You can also have novelty prize for a person whose horse runs last.

So how do people get a chance to get their names drawn out of a hat?
Why simply, you ask them to give you their details.

You put up a display in your shop, office, send out to existing clients and say, “Melbourne Cup Sweep Here” Fill out our entry form for a chance to win….
(whatever prize or product or service you can give them).

And here’s the part all business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs should be salivating over.

People will be happy to give you their First Name, Last Name, Mobile Number, Email Address & Residential Address for a chance to win the Melbourne Cup.

If you have plenty of clients, like the fish and chip owner I wrote to you about 12 months ago and you don’t have their contact details, than here is the perfect vehicle to grab them.

(And don’t be stingy with the winners’ prize – the prizes have to gobsmack them that they are jumping out of their skins to give you their details.

If you own a restaurant – a dinner for four; free cappuccinos for a month;
A dress shop – a free outfit; free blouse (are they still called this or am I old ?), free handbag etc.;
A car yard – free detailing for six months,

I am going to talk my fish and chip owner to give away free Fish and Chips for a YEAR. Yes a year. How much fish and chips is that really $10 a week to grab several hundred, if not thousands of names.

You get the picture.

Hopefully you do.

So get started. You have a week to start collecting names now.

Grab your PC, create your easy to read entry form and start collecting those customers details now.

Even contact existing clients and grab the personal details you are missing.

Hey, if you are not into the Melbourne Cup don’t worry.
This email email is not about the Melbourne Cup.

It’s about taking an opportunity to discuss a special event or holiday
i.e.  an opportunity to build your list.

You will find it detailed in my ‘There Are Only 8 Different Types of Emails”
as Email Type Two on page 7.

Email Marketing: What Age Group is Receptive To Receive Messages?

Hi Everyone

The curse of the email marketer is knowing which demographics you should be tailoring your email marketing messages to.

Breaking, splitting, segmenting your lists is crucial in email marketing.

But…

Until now research was hard to find on what age groups read emails and are receptive to your email marketing messages.

Yes until now.

Eric Kirby for Email Insider delivers these statistical demographics for us.

Age Group —————————–Preferred Method of Communication

18 – 29                                                             Text/SMS

30 – 40                                                            Email/Phone

40 – 50                                                            Phone/Email

50 – 60                                                            Phone/Email

60 – 79                                                            Email/Phone

Interesting point for me from this research is 87% of people who have an email address said they were happy to receive information from a company they like.

And…

This is the point about email marketing.

If you are in business and have a relationship with your clients then they are happy to receive messages from you.

If you are not sure what to say to them, download my free book There Are Only 8 Emails.

Email Marketing: Sorry I Have To Tell You This

Hi Everyone

“Sorry I Have To Tell You This”

For those who know me personally you are aware I
have been into marketing and motivational type products
etc. for well over 30 years.

I’m one of those funny guys who buys the books, the tapes,
goes to seminars and walks up to speakers and introduces
themselves.

My library looks like the “Who’s Who” of the marketing world
over the last 50 plus years.

I know…But that’s me.

For the past 14 years I have been out on my own making a
living i.e NO BOSS – and YES – a very handsome one at times;
(multiple racehorse ownership, a luxury b.each apartment, multiple property
developments & the latest model cars to name a few extravagances)

I always thought I could do things on my own.

You know; I don’t need help to make money or a very good living.

But…

Then I listened to a video today from one of my marketing buddies in
the States and I heard these words.

And it hurt. Yes, hurt.

He said:
“Sorry, but I have to tell you this, but if there is a problem
with your business it’s probably YOU !”

Now, he wasn’t speaking direct to me. He was speaking to the
hundreds or thousands who were going to watch the video, but
he may as well have been speaking to me.

Because…

His words hit me direct in the heart, like a crossbow arrow piercing
through my chest and blazingly protruding from my back.

I thought, “OUCH – That HURTS”

Why ?

Because he was Right !

Until you can admit you need someone to help you in your
business you won’t get the results you deserve. PERIOD !

You see, we can’t do it alone. Even a lone sprinter still needs
someone to click the stopwatch for them.

I have realised I need others to help and you can too.

I have put in place today to reconnect with some mentors
I have had over the years and toss around a few ideas and
thoughts with them.

I need their help to make sure I am on track to achieve
what I wish.

What about your Business. Do you need a hand?
Everyone does.

The first place to start is with your Marketing.

Yes, you need to look at this and get a plan underway.

So to help, I have put together a 22 page book titled,
“There Are Only 8 Types Of Emails”.

It gives you explanations and examples and it will
be dogeared from your use within a few very short months.

You can get it FREE from here: ONLY 8 TYPES OF EMAIL

I hope you do because I don’t wish to post again
and say, “Sorry, But I Have to Tell You This.”

Email Marketing – Start Thinking Christmas Promotions Now.

Hi Everyone

It’s time to start thinking about your Christmas Sales Promotions now.

There are two ways to go about this.

  1. Look at last year’s promotions to see what happened and then create new marketing campaigns to commence
    or…
  2. Grab new ideas and new promotions off larger companies and benchmark your campaigns in similar fashions.

If you choose Point 1 above; here are some questions you could ask yourself.

  • Which of my email campaigns last year were successful?  Did I use a Christmas theme template, copy or images? What subject lines did I use.
  • Which emails worked for me better, in terms of email openings, email click-throughs, sales, interest?
  • Which emails worked for me less, in terms of email openings, email click-throughs, sales, interest?
  • Which campaigns generated the highest level of ‘unsubscribes’?  Why was that do you think?  Was it because of the list or the message?
  • What did I identify from last year I would change for the better in my email marketing campaigns?
  • What am I going to send out this year?  How often am I going to send out?  What ‘offer’ will I give my customers which will be too irresistible for them to refuse?

October has commenced and it’s now time to start thinking about what you are going to do this year at Christmas.

Email marketing should not be an after thought.  Pay particular attention to what works best for you and test.  There is plenty of time to start testing now and put action into place.

If you choose the path of Point 2, from above, you will need to start collecting samples of what the top players are doing.  Check TV ads, newspaper clippings, magazine articles and see what grabs your attention.

Look for headings in ads which grabbed you.  Can you use them in your marketing.  Most times we can, they just need a slight tweak.

In a future post I am going to give you a list of Christmas subject/headlines which worked gangbusters for companies last year.  This list will enable you to start preparing you marketing straight away.

So stay tuned, subject/headlines which you can adapt into your email marketing is coming soon.

Email Marketing – Get To The Point

Hi Everyone

Get to the point with your email marketing

because…

Many people now read their emails via mobile phones or in their email program’s ‘Preview Frame’.

You can get to the point with a specially crafted subject and headline.

Don’t dismiss this.

I was re- reading John Caples, “Tested Advertising Methods” the other night and he devotes an entire four chapters on the HEADLINE.

He wrote:

“There are eighteen chapters in this book.  Four of these chapters, or more than one fifth of the entire book, deal with headlines of advertisements.

But…

Four chapters are not too much space to devote to this vital subject.  Headlines are extremely important.  They are telegraphic messages that an advertiser puts into big print for the public to read. The majority of the public reads little else.”

And nothing has changed today.

Spend time writing your email subject lines and spend time writing your email headlines.

This will allow the mobile phone reader and the preview frame reader the ability to resonate with your message.
