“Using Video In Your Email Marketing Campaigns”

Hi Everyone

“Do You Use Video In Your Email Marketing ?”

It is an area of marketing which is uncommon but oh
so powerful.

To show your customers exactly what they can obtain from you
in a visual format is just so compelling.

Should you do it or not?

The simple answer is YES.

What I mean if you wish to provide clients with something
extra that your competitors are not doing then you must.

I received many emails back from this post asking, “Kurt -
great idea – but I do not know how to do it.”

And that’s Ok, it’s not their fault. They haven’t been taught.

The simplistic way is to get yourself a digital camera.

Most people have one these days.

You will need one which has the ability to take video.  You could
use your phone even, depending on what type you have.

Once you have taken the video you then upload it to your computer.

Get to this stage and let me know.  I’ll then help you do something very
special with this video.

Take a look at this video.  It’s my good friend Sam Raslan of
Caffe Buorgiorno saying something nice.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAboc7zcAAY

This took me around 15 minutes to film, upload, edit, place graphics
and publish.

You can get to this stage to after training or get me to do it for you.

Imagine:

If you owned a caryard – how powerful would it be to send
out a marketing email which contains a 2 minute video on:

  • a recent addition to your stock;
  • a car just being traded in before it is detailed
    (“get this one before the public sees it”);
  • weekly spec*ials; or
  • a satisfied customer testimonial.

If you owned any business, how could you use the video
marketing concept?

A restaurant could video their latest meals, monthly spec*ials.

or…

how about capturing on camera when new stock arrives
and send it out to your clients with a message which says,

“The delivery of the new work boots has just arrived.
Order your pair NOW before we put them on shelf and receive a 20% reduction.
Tomorrow the price goes up because we to pay for the storeman’s labour.
ORDER NOW by phoning ………..”

Email marketing, with video, is YOUR message to market
with moving pictures and sound – QUICKLY.

and guess what…?

Your competitors are not doing it !

Bottom line, if you are not using email marketing with video in your
email marketing campaigns you are leaving money on the table.

Email Marketing Was Her Key

Janine Allis’s success was aided by Email Marketing.

In my last post I revealed the lady behind Boost Juice and her phenomenal success.

Janine Allis had a background in advertising and marketing as did her husband.

With all this knowledge they used Email Marketing as their prime source of getting their message to their clients.

Janine collected email addresses and constantly informed her target audience of their expanded product range.

Janine also had a passion and a determination to succeed.  This is crucial in any business venture.

If you have a passion and determination to succeed it is a start.

You also need to have a plan and marketing mechanism to succeed.

Janine Allis used email marketing – it is a key to her success.

For your passion to succeed consider email marketing it is the tool you cannot do without.

Do You Know Who Janine Allis Is?

Do You Know Who Janine Allis Is?

In Leiza Clark’s “Female Entrepreneurs” – Leading Australian Businesswomen - she interviewed  Janine Allis creator of Boost Juice Bars which revealed an interesting insight.

Janine Allis built her business from scratch.

Having a passion, determination and personal attitude towards healthy living she developed the grab-and-go Boost Juice concept after seeing a similar venture in the States when accompanying her husband on a trip.

Janine built a business plan, pitched her ideas to investors and the rest is history. There are over 150 Boost Juice franchises turning over more than 100 million dollars per annum in around 13 countries with a new store opening most days.

You can grab Leiza Clarks’ book from all good bookstores.

In the meantime here is a question on marketing asked to Janine and her answer:

“QUOTE”:

Question:
Did you have a target market?

Answer:
Yes- The target market was females aged 18-35, so we focused on that market.

We did email marketing from the word go.

We opened the door and started sending emails straight away and doing monthly newsletters.

I personally inputted the first 6000 emails – I did everything.

I was running the stores, doing the accounts and marketing and obviously loved every single bit of it.

That puts me in good stead now, because there’s not one part of this business that I don’t understand.

It hasn’t really changed, only got bigger, but I’ve had to change in the sense that I can’t be involved in everything all the time.

“UNQUOTE”

In my next post I am going to decipher this paragraph even more, but is interesting because a major success of Janine Allis’s marketing was email marketing.

Inspirational Quote

“I QUIT !!”

Hi Everyone,

I Quit!

That’s right, I quit !

Now this may seem a little weird but it’s not directed at you.

It’s directed at the newspapers I constantly find myself reading.

Let me explain…

At the start of the 2009 I made a conscious, published decision to cease watching the news on T.V.

This was my ‘New Year’s Decision’. You can read the post on my blog here.

http://www.kurtjohansen.com/businessstrategy/to-make-a-new-years-resolution-or-not/

Well, I am proud to say I have managed to do this and I am not missing it one iota.

Now, I need to make another decision and that’s what I am going to do.

I am going to cease reading the newspaper.

Why would I do this I hear you ask.

Because…

Every page is filled with ‘hard times, bad-business stories, and doom and gloom of some description.

Now, don’t get me wrong…

Some people are losing their jobs, some people are in financial difficulties and some businesses are closing.

BUT NOT EVERYONE !!

Did you know, First Class Seats on airlines are FULL, even when there are spare seats in economy?

See, the newspapers are like the T.V. news; they keep telling us the sky is falling and that can’t be further from the truth.

If I continue to read the newspapers and focus on the negative world, I would start living in the negative world and that is quite frankly not the way I wish to live.

If you focus on having no money, you will get NO MONEY.

You need to focus on what you want not what you fear.

If you focus on prosperity, happiness and money, that is what you will get prosperity, happiness and money!

But…

It doesn’t happen by just focusing – that belief is baloney.

You must make conscious decisions and change.

For Things To Change First I Must Change.

You need to start doing things differently and ACTION.

Because without action your dreams will remain a dream.

So join me and stop watching the News and Reading the papers they mostly focus on the negative because good news stories do not sell.

There is money everywhere.

It doesn’t disappear. (Well, unless you are the Joker and decide to burn a bunch of it – that’s a Heath Ledger tribute if you didn’t pick it up)

Money moves around and gets transferred, so why can’t it transfer to you.

So come on and join me in saying “I QUIT !”

“I QUIT watching the news and reading papers”;

“I QUIT feeling doom and gloom is all around me”;

“I QUIT getting in discussions how bad everything is”;

“I QUIT talking about anything which won’t make bring me prosperity and money to my life.”

Here’s a confession.

I used to focus on BAD things and engage in topics and then I made a DECISION.

And that was to…

Eliminate “DreamCrushers” from my life.

It’s probably not a real word “DreamCrushers” but it’s mine and they exist !

You know the ones which say, “You can’t do that.” “That will never work.” “How much money are you wasting on…?”

DreamCrushers – WE DON’T NEED THEM !

Eliminate them from your life and get on with your plans.

When you do, things will start changing, for the better.

We both know…

You want to.

We both know, you should commence NOW.  NOT today but NOW.

And you can.

You are the only one who can make that decision and when you do.

You will be the one flying FIRST CLASS.

See, up near the pilots…it;s where you DESERVE TO FLY.

Cheers and Great Selling

Kurt

PS:  Make a decision today, you deserve to.

“Email Marketing Brings In The Best Return On Investment”

“Email Marketing Brings In The Best Return On Investment”
Are you missing out ?!

Research conducted by the Direct Marketing Association in America reveals some interesting facts about Email Marketing.

The return on investment from e-mail far surpasses other channels of marketing and advertising.

For every dollar spent in 2008, Email Marketing brought in $45.06 return on investment (ROI)

The Direct Marketing Association’s Power of Direct economic impact study revealed this compares favourably to non-email internet marketing of $19.94.  (Non-email internet marketing is classed as websites selling merchandise etc, but whose businesses do not market to clients through email.)

Compare this to statistics for Catalogue Marketing which delivered $7.28 for every dollar spent in 2008 and Email Marketing is by far the most cost effective and economical way to advertise.

Not surprisingly non-catalogue direct marketing’s ROI was $15.55 for every dollar in 2008, according to the study.

But what is surprising is…

Companies are slow to embrace Email Marketing despite the massive ROI advantage.

The Direct Marketing Association estimated marketers spent $600 million on e-mail in 2008 and will spend $700 million on it in 2009.

In comparison, the Direct Marketing Association estimated marketers spent $24.1 billion on non-e-mail Internet marketing in 2008 and will spend $28 billion on it in 2009.

Telephone marketing and direct mail account for most of direct marketers’ spending with telephone accounting for 24% in 2008 and 23.2% in 2009, and direct mail accounting for 19.9% in 2008 and 19.8% in 2009, according to the Direct Marketing Association.

However, e-mail marketing’s growth during that period – 13.6% – was the highest of the various marketing channels.

This tells us…

Email Marketing is on the rise and consumers are looking at fast and efficient means to satisfy their buying needs.

In other news, the Direct Marketing Association projects that in 2009, for the first time Internet sales will surpass all other channels.

Businesses that can actively target their client groups with meaningful email marketing messages and direct customers to their websites are in for increased sales and greater return on investments than traditional marketing methods.

Email Marketing is cost effective, economical and sound business practice in today’s consumer environment.

The smart businesses will build customer loyalty, increase their brand awareness and decrease costly overheads.

The Direct Marketing Association went on to deduce, Email Marketing will have driven $28 billion in sales by the end of 2008 and will drive $32.6 billion in sales in 2009.

Doesn’t it make sense to start Email Marketing in your business?

“Email Marketing Response Rates”

Hi Everyone

I am often asked about Email Marketing Response Rates and what are the numbers I should strive for.

“Is it 2%, 5%, 10%, 20% ?”  “What are acceptable, email marketing response
rates?”

Well the simple answer is these numbers mean nothing.

Yes, nothing !

The only numbers which mean anything are the ones which put dollars
in your bank account.

It is conversion which is most important as this transcribes  to money in the bank.

I am a fan though of two statistics in email marketing.

1. Open Rates and
2. Read Rates

These email marketing response rates give me two vital pieces of information.

Firstly, whether the recipient likes me enough to open the email in the first place and secondly, the number of times the email is read.

You see email marketing is about the List, the Relationship you have with the list and then the Offer.

If the Open and Read Rates are high and the conversion is not there then it
is normally about the Offer (it just isn’t good enough for people to take action).

So,  with email marketing response rates make sure you are measuring
your open and read rates – it will let you know if the some vital ingredient is wrong i.e. headlines, sub headings etc.

but more importantly…

keep track of your conversion rate – because that is where the money is.

“Email Marketing Guru Reveals A Secret Which Most Internet Marketers Do Not Want You To Know”

“Email Marketing Guru Reveals A Secret Which Most Internet
Marketers Do Not Want You To Know”

Hi Everyone

I am about to reveal to you a secret which most internet marketers know
but they do not wish to tell you.

The really successful, long term guys do but the ‘newbies’ to the game
will sell you their systems to make money on-line and tell you, you can too.

And…

Maybe you can for awhile.

But…

“You Cannot Collect Enough Leads On-Line To Sustain a Profitable Business”

There I said it !

You see, if are relying on getting leads  just from your website than your
business model is floored.

If this is what you are doing it’s Ok, it’s not your fault.  It was what you
were told would work.

Let me help with some simple tips.

If you have any place of business in which a person must physically enter then you must have a fast convenient way to collect their details.

Put a sign at your register or receptionist’s desk and
ask if they would like to join your ‘free mailing list’ to keep in touch with
promotions, specials, discounts, member rewards from time to time.

Create a quick and easy form which they can fill in which includes
email address as well as their postal address.

When was the last time somebody asked you to join a list (off-line).
Businesses simply do not do it and it’s dumb not to.  So, get cracking and
start collecting names, addresses, dates of birth now.

Make sure you follow up with them within 48 hours  when they do
join your off-line list.

If they have an email address send them an email thanking them.
This way you can confirm their email address is correct.

Give them something free as a special thank you for signing up.
This could be a discount voucher or a free item.  Make sure you
place an expiry date on the form – give them a sense of urgency.

If you do not have a store then simply start thinking how can I get
leads ‘off-line’.

Maybe you could sponsor a sporting, church or book club.  Do
this with the proviso you get access to the database.

Place a small ad in the local newspaper telling asking people
to send in the coupon to get your free report on your topic.

Try contacting Lions, Apex Clubs etc. they are always looking
for speakers.  Maybe you go along to a monthly meeting ???

There are many ways to collect leads off-line.  Think, think, think…

because…

If you are simply relying for your on-line presence to collect names then your business model is floored.

Cheers and Great Selling

Kurt

P.S. No doubt email campaigns are one the most effective way to market.
So make sure whatever you do – COLLECT THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS.
