“How To Use Your Emails To Drive People To Your Website”

Hi Everyone

“How To Use Emails To Drive People To Your Website”

A sound tactic of any email campaign is to be very clear what you would like people to do after they have read it.

Your email should be written with an intent, a purpose of mind, a clear end result on how you would like the recipient to act.

In the copywriting business we call it a “Call to Action”.

I am not necessarily talking about a asking for a sale every time you email.

In fact, experience tells us this tactic simply will not be receptive with even your most ardent of followers.

What you must do though is to have a clear strategy.

For instance, one of my very good clients Victor, from Melbourne Australia, makes good use of his monthly newsletter.

Victor, engages his list by referring them to his website to click on a few links to gain access to the monthly newsletter which contains numerous specials inside.

Do you want to know the funny part.

Most of Victor’s clients receive a ‘hard copy’ of the monthly newsletter in the mail.  It is the same one which is on the website and contains the same specials

but…

people go through the exercise of clicking the links.

Why ???

Because it is ‘front of mind.

And this is the POWER of email marketing.

You see Victor emails to his List ‘weekly’ and reminds them to take a look.

The email reminds them the newsletter is published and to take peak at the monthly specials.

And they do.

How do we know ?

Because we can trace their actions.

So whether you have a newsletter or not.

The combination of email marketing and driving prospects to your website works.

Still not sure ?

Let Victor tell you.  http://www.kurtjohansen.com/testimonials/39000-in-3-days-using-kurts-system/

“Overcoming the ‘I don’t know what to get them problem.”

Hi Everyone

The biggest problem my friends and family seem to have at Christmas time is the, “I don’t know what to get them!” problem.

You know the one.

“Oh, is Uncle Bob coming over for  Christmas dinner this year?!”
“I don’t know what to get him !”

“Surely Aunt Maud isn’t coming to Christmas dinner after last years episode.  Gee, she is just so hard to please.
I never know what to get her !

We have all been there, haven’t we.

and…

So have most of your customers.

Ok, now here’s how you can help people overcome the
“I don’t know what to get them !”
problem.

Instead of just letting people know what products and services you have; try to link them to a particular personality style.

ie.  If you sell computer games, try sorting them into games which cater for various gamers.  The new gamer, the once-a-year-gamer, the skilled gamer and give a briefing on each.

Ok, I hear you – the gamer will know what they want, so this is a bit dumb.

but…

it’s about…

the person buying the game.

HELP your customers choose the correct present this year.

Instead of saying we have wines on offer at discount prices, say something like,

” If Uncle Bob likes a big heavy red then I suggest these two varieties….”

“If your Aunt Maud likes  sweet wines  then the late harvested wines are the best for her.  This is where the sugar content has evolved in the grape whilst still growing on the vine.  We have these two on offer….”

The point I am raising here is Christmas time gives us an opportunity to expand our marketing and give more information to HELP our customers.

It is never the customers responsibility to know what you have on offer it’s the business owners responsibility to let their customers know everything about their products and services and how they can help them.

Plus…

Christmas is a time when people buy presents for others and they can get frustrated during this time.

Make it easy for them.

Your Action Plan is now to look at what you can write about your products and services and how you can not only help the end user but how you can help the BUYER.

“7 Gangbuster Email Marketing Tips To Get You Ready For Christmas”

Hi Everyone

Grab these 7 Gangbuster Tips to get your bonanza Christmas holiday rush.

Gosh it’s Only 4 months to go until Christmas.

It really isn’t that far away.

If you haven’t started thinking about your Christmas
email marketing campaigns then, I suggest it may be time to.

Your campaigns should start in the beginning of November and earlier if you can.

So, what can you do now to help make your Christmas email campaigns run
as smoothly as possible?

1. Revisit last year’s campaigns and see what worked, what didn’t and
how you can improve them.

2. Take a look at your lists.  Can you segment them anymore?
Can you separate the lists into groups to match customers with products?

3. Start creating a ‘sending’ schedule.  Planning will make it so much
easier and you can even upload email campaigns in advance.

5. If you have neglected your clients over recent months it is best to start
reconnecting with them now.  Rebuild your relationship with them. This way
your customers will be used to receiving messages from you.
If you wait until November they will think you are just trying to
sell them something.

6. By starting to contact them you will be able to ‘clean’ your list and
check who’s opening and reading them.  Then you can target specific products to specific customers.

and…

7. Check you website links are working.  After all we don’t wish to make it hard for them to give us money – do we.

Follow these 7 tips and get your email marketing on track for a bonanza
Christmas holiday rush.

“Do You Know Who Dr Randy Pausch Is?”

Hi Everyone

This is another email in my series “Do You Know Who … Is?”

“Do You Know Who Dr Randy Pausch Is?”
(I thank Jennie Armato for sending this one to me –
http://www.jenniearmato.com/blog)

Randy Pausch was a tenured professor at Carnegie Mellon University.

In September 2007, Randy Pausch delivered his “Last Lecture” titled
“Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.”

You see, Randy knew he was dying.

and…

as a legacy to his children offered these thoughts, these inspirational
messages about life and living.

If you are like me, Randy’s speech will move you.

He talks about his “Childhood Dreams” and chasing them.

There’s the story about his footy coach riding him hard and blasting him.

An assistant coach said to Randy,
“Coach Graham rode you pretty hard today didn’t he.”
“Yeah !” replied Randy.
“That’s a good thing.  When you are screwing up and nobody is saying anything
to you anymore it means they gave up.”

“When you see yourself doing something badly and nobody is telling you anything
to you anymore; that’s a bad, bad place to be.”

“Your critics are the ones telling you they still love you and care.”

Randy uses analogies of brickwalls.

Brickwalls let us show our dedication.

They are there to separate us from the people who don’t really want
to achieve their childhood dreams.

“Don’t bail; the best gold is at the end of the bottom of barrels of crap.”

muses Randy.

“Get a feedback loop; and listen to it.  The hard part is the listening.”

he continues

“Anybody can get chewed out.  The rare person, says, “Oh My God”,
you are right.”

“When people give you feedback, cherish it and use it.”

In closing, Randy Pausch leaves us with these parting words:

  • Show gratitude;
  • Don’t complain – just work harder;
  • Be good at something – it makes you valuable;
  • Work Hard;
  • Find the best in everybody, no matter how long it takes;
  • Be prepared.  Luck is where preparation meets oppor.tunity; and
  • If you lead your life the right way, Karma will take place;
your dreams will come to you.

No doubt the world is at a loss to lose a person like Randy Pausch.

He is survived by the people he has touched and educated.

Spen.d 75 minutes of your life to find out a little about him.

I am so glad I did.

Journalists Fight Back

Hi Everyone

Just when we thought the newspaper was dying (and it is), journalists are fighting back by joining in and…

Take a look at this article.

“Is Speed Killing The NewsPaper?”

“Is Speed Killing The NewsPaper?”
if you ask the newspaper industry it is.

Hi Everyone

Not many people would be aware that the newspaper industry is in strife.

Numerous journalists and administrative staff are being laid off
throughout the world.

And it can’t be blamed on the economic downturn.

You see it all has to do with the massive speed we
now wish to receive our information.

Speed kills. The Internet dramatically changed the role of newspapers because
news doesn’t wait for printing presses and delivery trucks.

Now, content distributed via Twitter, Facebook and blog posts
make content not only instantaneous but everywhere.

Whether you are a news organization, retailer or B2B company you need
a new approach if you are only sending out monthly newsletters.  By the time
your customer has received your monthly newsletter and read it; too
much time will pass before your next one gets there.

If you wait too long, the marketplace will own and shape your message.
Instead of making the news, you’ll react to it.

Email is still faster than print, and then there is of course other mediums
that are even faster.

This information explo.sion and its distractions have led to a
decrease in time and patience by your customer.

The four-page direct-mail letter has been replaced by email marketing and
140-character Twitter offers.

SMS, Twitter, blogs, online video and soc.ial networks compete with
your mailouts, for attention.

Your email message might lose out to the 160-character text message and
the 140-character tweet if you don’t come to the point quickly, with content that’s visible no matter which platform or configuration your customer uses.

So what’s the point of my post today ???

Well, it’s about getting you to realise it’s time to EMBRACE new technology.

It’s about getting to realise there are new mediums and

It’s about getting you to admit you need help to get your message across.

Contact me now and I’ll help unravel the mysteries and have you
working on email marketing, twitter updates and the mag*ic of
Facebook for your business now.

You need to do this before your competitors do.

So contact me NOW.
