Email Marketing: 10 Top Tips For Email Success Are…

As you are enjoying your  long-weekend break in Australia, I thought I would
give you an article on email marketing you can contemplate over wherever
you are relaxing.

You could say it’s your long-weekend homework but gosh
I wouldn’t do that to you, would I ?

Let’s say it’s a long-weekend learning experience for you.

So here you go, read and digest these ten tips for maximum
email marketing wealth.

My Top Ten Tips Are:

1. Write a Subject Line which will make your intended audience click.
I have spoken about email subject lines in the past.  It’s so crucial to
learn how to write them and how to use them. If you need more help
with subject lines click here: SUBJECT LINES.

2. Write your important items at the top of your email so those people
who read their emails in the ‘preview frame’ get to read your best part of
the message quickly.

Also many people read emails via their phones.
Make it easy for them too.

3. Check out your formatting.  Leave white space. Keep line length to
around 60 characters.  People would rather scroll down than across.

4. Write your emails as if you are talking to one person.  Make it a
real conversation.

5. Focus on content they would like to receive.  It’s about helping them.

6. See if you can offer something but remember it’s not always about
sales.  You need to be able to add value to people’s lives.

7. Keep your image sizing down to a minimum.  Try to get you images
around 72 dpi and keep them small in size.  This way they will not clog
up your recipients inbox.

8. Make sure you know and understand what you can do and cannot do
by law.  In Australia we use the Spam Act 2003 in the USA they use the
Can Spam Act.

9. Use a ‘PS’ at the end of the email.  Two ‘PS’s’ work even better.

10. Try placing your picture at the end of the email.

Email Marketing: “Remove This Word From Your Emails.”

“Remove This Word From Your Emails.”

I read an article today by Mel Henson which I’d like to share with you.

It’s a powerful message about removing just one word to gain greater results with your sales copy.

If you are someone who likes to jump straight in;
the article is here:  REMOVE ONE WORD ARTICLE.

But if you wish to read on I’ll explain.

The article suggests to remove the word ‘will’ in your copy.

For instance:

  • Kids will love the fruity taste;
  • These shoes will have your dancing feet tapping;
  • Your room will have a true daylight feel with this new light bulb.


Simply by removing the word ‘will’ makes all of the sentences become
more powerful.

eg:

  • Kids love the fruity taste;
  • These shoes get your dancing feet tapping;
  • Your room has a true daylight feel with this new light bulb.

Removing ‘Will’ puts customers into the Present Moment.

This is why this works.

By writing the sentence without the word ‘will’ it helps the customer
imagine themselves actually using the product in the here and now.

Mel writes, “The subconscious brain cannot distinguish between reality and strong
visual images. If you write in a way that helps the customer imagine they
are experiencing the product it makes them more likely to buy.”

Mel does go on to reveal other ways to eliminate ‘will’ and I know I will be doing my darndest to cease using it.

Email Marketing: Be Careful With The Size Of Your Photos

Hi Everyone

I had a client frustrated her email marketing campaign kept being refused to be sent
by the email sending program she was using.

The message she was receiving was the ‘file size is too large‘.

She couldn’t understand it.

I took a look for her and realised she had imbedded four photos in into the email, which was terrific.

The problem was the size of the photos were each around 1 mgb in size.  She had simply uploaded the photos from her camera and imbedded them into the email sending program.

Just a quick note for everybody and to my lovely client.

The internet normally works off picture sizes around 72 dpi.

When you send an email campaign you should reduce your photos to this size too.

That way each photo will be reduced to about 20 kb- 40 kb which is a much more palatable size for any email marketing sending program to handle.

I reduce my photo sizes by using Photoshop.

There are plenty of free programs available for you to download if you do not have this program though.

My Mac user friends tell me they have software on their computers which does this.

So, reduce the size of your photos and you should not have any trouble sending emails.

Email Marketing: What A Dope I Am

I received an email this morning and must admit they got me.

I was beaten by a Technicality.

You see, I closed off my End Of Financial Year Sale last night at
midnight.

Email Marketing: Has Kaboodle Changed Or Simply Testing?

Hi Everyone

For those who follow me will know I am more of a fan of email marketing by copywriting.  That is to get people to act by the words which are written.

Other examples of email marketing is what I describe ‘email brochures’.  That is; highly visible and selected images are included in an email to entice the reader to click a link to further check out a product.

This second type of email is used primarily by retail type stores.

One particular on-line store I follow is Kaboodle.  I receive their newsletter in my inbox.

What I have recently discovered was Kaboodle changed their email template design.

It used to be 24 pictures in the templates.  Refer my previous post.

Today I received their marketing email with only 5 pictures.

Not sure when it happened.  It could have been months ago.
