Email Marketing: They Just Don’t Get It

Hi Everyone

In Adelaide South Australia, where I live, Living Social has grabbed a huge slice slice of the daily discount email ‘market’.

This is where you can receive an offer from them for a company allowing you buy a product or service at a heavily discounted price.

In the States this market is dominated by Groupon and other like companies as well as Living Social.

Now for the recipient of these emails it is wonderful to use and try a service at a very reasonable fee.  Supposedly at discounts which can be up to 30%-60% off depending on the company offering the service or product.

BUT and it is a big BUT…

businesses are still not using this marketing method wisely.

For instance; I bought into a local pasta meal deal a few weeks back.

When collected the owner complained about how much money they were losing on the 1000 deals they sold.

No attempt was made to get my details to keep selling to me.  Just complaints came her mouth.

In another transaction, an Indian meal (we call them takeaways here not takeouts) seemed to get it right when they asked if I would like to join their email list.

“We send out weekly specials.” I was told.

Hmmm…

“Why not?”  I replied.

That was a month ago. No emails have been forthcoming.

The fact is these discount offers do play a part in a businesses’ marketing mix

BUT…

only if they are a part of a larger marketing strategy.

Use this method of gaining new clients wisely – don’t be caught up that it is just cashflow.

Continually discounting ones goods and services is not a great business model.

Email Marketing – Don’t Get Hooked Up in the App World

Hi Everyone

It seems that everyone is going crazy about APPS these days.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of different ones you can download on your Smartphone.

BUT…

At the recent Mobile Insider Summit, in Key Biscayne,  it was revealed:

  • 25% of Smartphone users don’t use their phone as a Smartphone, even though it is one;
  • Of those who do use their phone as a Smartphone only 16%  engage with apps;
  • and another 8% plays game.

These Smartphone users do, however, use the Internet 21% and they do use check their emails 29%.

So what does this mean to the email marketer.

Two things really.

  1. Make sure your emails are targeted to your customer; and
  2. Make sure your website is in congruence with your email message.

Apps may be on the increase but there is no evidence they are being taken up in abundant use.

Therefore don’t divert your attention away from specific email messages for your clients.

Email Marketing – “Send Some Valentine’s Love”

Valentine’s Day is almost upon us.

and…

It’s now time to plan what you are going to send to your customers.

Whether you personally view it as the most romantic day of the year,
surrounded with love and affection,

or…

a tacky, hyped-up-retail propaganda;

there’s no denying, Valentine’s Day can have a dramatic effect on
many small businesses.

And one of the best ways to take advantage of this
potential windfall is through email marketing.

Here are 1o email marketing tips you should implement immediately
to make sure your Valentine’s  Day doesn’t end up a lonely affair.

1. Start writing your copy, collect images you will use, take photos of stock or merchandise, draft your offers, etc.

then…

Plan a schedule of when to send your emails:

Email 1: Thursday Feb. 3 : “Introduction and Initial Offer Email”

Email 2: Tuesday Feb. 8: “Offer Reminder Email”  (let them know only 6 days to go)

Email 3: Thursday Feb. 10: “Reminder Two Valentine’s Day is on Monday -
Are you prepared ?”

Email 4: Monday Feb. 14: “Make Sure You Get Your Loved One A….” – (From You Of Course !)

You could extend another offer for one more day/night/purchase etc.

2. Add a Valentine’s Day image in your email or use a Valentine’s Day template, if you have one available. A Valentine’s Day template works gangbusters to get people in the mood and thinking about the Day.

3. Offer Valentine’s  ideas in your email. People often do not know what to get their partner on Valentine’s Day.

Give them suggestions.

How many times have you wondered what you’re going to do for your special loved-one?

Males often have a hard time thinking of ideas.

Do the work for them by providing a list of the top 2-3 Valentine’s Day gifts or services you can provide.  Don’t give too many choices, you will confuse people and then they won’t buy.

4. Can you break-up your list by gender?
Send the males and the females different messages.  They will want different things.

But a common email will work as well.

5. Have compelling offers.  Most people would have spent their holiday pay and would not be too flushed with disposable income.  Make the offer so compelling they need to take advantage of it.

6. Partner with another business. Can you offer complementing products and services. Can a dinner include a photograph?
Talk to the business beside you – can you share lists? i.e You offer their services to your list (must be introduced and sent by you).
Will they send out your Valentine’s Day offer to their list?

7. Do you remember who bought from you last Valentine’s Day?
Contact them. Remind them.

Offer them an even better deal this year.

If the offer is right, they’ll most likely buy from you again.
If you don’t know them, make sure you keep a record this year.

8. Add “forward-to-a-friend” in your email.
Encourage people to forward your email offer to their friends.
It’s a way to make more sales and gain another client.

9. Add testimonials to your email.

Many consumers will buy if they know another person has had
a positive buying experience with your product or service.
Let your prospects know you are honest and reliable.

and finally…

10. If you don’t have a list then now is the time to start building one.
Use an in-store promotion to WIN a valuable gift basket.

Start collecting Names (first name crucial),
Email Addresses and even birthdays (you don’t have to collect the year of birth – the day and month will do).

Collect their postal address too.
(There’s many ways to market to them then – but that’s another message from me).

There you go….

1o email marketing tips you should implement immediately
to make sure your Valentine’s  Day doesn’t end up a lonely affair.

Email Marketing: Oh Gosh, There’s Only 12 Buying Days To Go

Hi Everyone

Over the past couple of weeks I have been busy putting together
Christmas campaigns for clients and today realised Christmas is
approaching faster than a speeding bullet.

Oh Gosh, There’s Only 12 Buying Days To Go.

And did you know…

The majority of your customers need help to buy presents.

Sure; some may have already done their Christmas shopping

but…many would not have

and…

there is always ‘that relative’ who is proving to be a ‘headache’
NO NIGHTMARE to buy for.

So what can you do about this.

The major thing to do is to start looking at your lists and
deciding what products and services you can offer them.

Try to think, “What would make it easier for the customer
to buy?”

i.e. You could offer products and services by price.
“These products priced at:

* Less than $20;
* Between $20 and $50;
* Over $50;
* Over $100.”

This way your customers can decide quickly where to focus their attention.

You could offer your products and services by number.

* Grab one of these and get another one free.
* Buy 4 get the fifth one free.

You could offer your products and services with ‘complimentary’ gift wrapping.

You could offer your products and services with free delivery. This is a major
decider for those people who research and buy on-line.

And one of the best I have seen was this one.
They offered a set of three coupons which they sent to all their customers
via email – in one mail-out:

* Coupon 1 – 10% Off  (with an expiry date) and if it is used;
* Coupon 2 – 12% Off  (with an expiry date) and if it is used;
* Coupon 3 – 15% Off  (with an expiry date).

The best though was the company telling everyone these offers are
only for their email subscribers and the offer IS NOT available unless
people were already on their list.

How’s that for exclusivity and what we call ‘the take-away offer’.
They openly told many previous customers you are not getting this deal !

I have no doubt they have made additional sales as people took advantage
of the coupon email offer.

I also have no doubt they received additional sign-ups to their email lists
as people would not wish to miss out on the next wave of offers.

So, now it’s your turn.

What are you going to put together for you customers?

I recommend you send an email this Wednesday 15th (that leaves you
tomorrow to put your thinking cap on) and again on Friday 17th.

You should then be able to send three emails out the following week.

All in all; there is still time to send out 5 emails before Christmas.

Email Marketing – Can You Use Any Of These Tactics?

Hi Everyone

Can You Use Any Of These Tactics?

Each year retailers are looking at different ways to capture sales.

And because your business sells  products and services,
you should take a look at this too.

As an example each year I offer my 5 x 5 x 5.5 Christmas Promotion.
It’s where 5 businesses get to work with me on an email campaign for
them to send 5 emails for $550.

Simple Really.

Well this year I was oversubscribed with an additional 433.33% of people
wanting to come on board compared to last year.

I had to turn down many clients.

This could have been because people were waiting for the promotion again or
because they were ready to run their very own Christmas Promotion.

Whatever the reason…

Statistics don’t lie.

So what can you do to engage your customers to buy?
What can you do to entice them to give their Christmas Dollars to you?

Which gets me back to the topic of this email.

In America, retailers are now using their traditional Thanksgiving Holiday
Season to drive sales.

You see…

Thanksgiving is always celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November which has allowed retailers to use this time to announce the commencement of Christmas Shopping.

But what is interesting is…

As well as marking the start of Christmas Sales, clever marketers are driving
sales on the Friday and Monday following Thanksgiving (Thursday).

These days are known as Black Friday and Cyber Monday respectively and I am going to provide you with more tactics in a report on how they are used to make sales and profits in my next email to those who have downloaded my “7 Killer Tips Book” over to the right.

Plus…

if you download this report coming you way – you will be able to discover
how I can still help you with your email marketing this Christmas.

But first…

take a look at these offers retailers are using on Black Friday and
Cyber Monday and determine how you could adopt them in your business.

There are offers ranging from $25 off.

$25_Off_Over_$100

to offers ranging from Free Shipping.

Free_Shipping

The tactics behind these offers via email are worth dissecting
and studying and that is what I will do in my Free Report coming
your way soon.

Inside it I will discuss their offers.

Do their offers really matter?

That’s what I am going to reveal in my Free Report coming soon.

Contact me if you would like a copy.

In the meantime take another look at these offers and see if you
could adopt something similar in your business.
