Auto Responders: The Email Marketer’s Magic Weapon

Imagine this…

Pauline (an avid baby clothes designer) visits your website. 

You sell a book which helps improve her designing knowledge.  She’s highly interested in what you have to offer, but she’s just not ready to purchase yet.  She’s still recovering from the school holidays and needs to pay off the credit card that she used extensively taking her kids to various activities.

Pauline sees a form on your site asking if she would like tips about baby clothes’ designs.
She fills in her first name and email address. 

Within seconds an email is sent to Pauline with a short summary of the benefits offered by your book and a couple of useful tips she can use right away.

Twenty four hours later, Pauline receives another email that goes something like this:

“Hi Pauline, did you get a chance to put any of the tips I sent you yesterday into practice yet?  If you haven’t, it is OK.  I find most people’s lives take over and they forget they were sent so I thought I would help you with this reminder.  To make it easy I have include the tips again. 

Why don’t you print them off now and have them at your fingertips when you next grab the needle and cotton.  Don’t forget my book on Baby Clothes Designing too.  It is available to download right away.  Simply click on this link NOW – Happy Sewing…”

Pauline has forgotten that she’d been looking to buy a book on baby clothes designing and your email reminds her. 

Pauline makes a note to take another look at your book.

A few days later, Pauline receives another email; this time you offer the book and a highly valuable bonus for Pauline.  Possibly special patterns or designs which you know anyone would love.  This time you give her only 24 hours to grab the bonuses on offer or they will disappear.

Pauline realizes the time constraints and jumps at your offer and buys your book.

Now here’s the kicker…

Every email you sent to Pauline was automated.

The example above shows how a series of auto responder emails can be used as a powerful marketing tool for your web site.

Now, take a few minutes and think to yourself, “How can I use autoresponders on my web site?”

No, seriously. Stop and think.

This simple exercise could easily add another stream of revenue to your web site that you didn’t know existed.
