Following on in the series about autoresponders, Cynthia from Rosebud in N.S.W. asked me why she would need an autoresponder for her business.

So I wrote this little explanation to help her.

How To Use An Autoresponder

Offering free things to your website visitors is one marketing method to create a list.

Free courses delivered via email are very popular. People sign up for courses to learn about a topic of interest to them.

These courses are best maintained and delivered with the use of autoresponders.

An autoresponder can be set up to send out a series of lessons. The lessons can be set to send at specific intervals.  Simply determine the time frame between lessons.

You can opt to have lessons delivered daily, every second day, every three days, or any other time frame you believe will work best for your list.

Email courses are commonly used to sell products and services.

For instance, if you sell baby prams, you could develop a series of lessons to teach customers how to use the pram or how to care for their pram.

You can write a course for almost any product that you can imagine – if you put enough thought into it.

Start by determining what your course will be about, and how long it should be.

If the course should be delivered every second day for two weeks, you would need eight lessons.

Write the lessons and load them in the autoresponder.

Set the interval for each lesson, which in this case would be days 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14.

This means the first lesson would be delivered immediately after the person has requested the course.
(i.e. signed up from your website box)

And the second lesson would be delivered two days after the person has requested the course, and so on.

The interval for each lesson is set for the number of days after the person has signed up.

Make sure that you run a test first, sending each lesson to yourself.

This will allow you to see what your email list will see when they sign up.
