“How Often Should I Email My Clients ?”

This is the single most asked question I receive from people.

Before I answer the particular question I ask them one back.

And that is…

“When was the last time you looked at your list and why people are on there ?”

You see, it is not about how many times you email your clients it is about what you have to say to them.

To segment your customer database is just as important, if not more so, than the number of emails you send.

The number of emails you send should not be a concern because…  if the message is relevant to the customer than they will welcome the message.

Let me explain further…

In December I crafted a series of emails for a customer and on the last day of the sale I programmed 3 emails to send. (It was reminding people the Christmas sale was about to end.)

The result was an incredible boost in sales on the third email of the day. I mean massive sales were made on the last email.

That is because of the limited time available to get the deal. People could have bought on any of the emails but the third and last one of the day worked.

PT Barnum knew 120 years ago it takes around 7 ‘touches’ for a customer to buy and nothing has dramatically changed since.

Don’t treat email as just a means to sell though.

Treat email as a vehicle to give your customers messages they will value.

If you get this idea then the question I get asked more than any other becomes irrelevant.

Do you need a hand with your email marketing in 2015…
