David, I believe you are correct on personalisation and privacy.
I see email marketing becoming more permission based and a welcoming media to receive offers from invited businesses.

The use of Smart Phones to receive emails will increase too.

The ability of the email marketer to send meaningful, segmented messages to their lists will grow and determine which marketers/businesses stay in the game.
