How Not To Email Market…

For years I have been spruiking email marketing is an Art not an Act.

Gees heck, it is never about sending out an email and hoping something pops. 

You need to have more respect for your recipients than that.

To be successful at email marketing there are some fundamental rules you need to
adhere to.

  1. You need to have a List.  A list of welcome recipients;
  2. You need to be build a Relationship and a rapport with your list; and
  3. Once rule two is achieved you have the earned the right to make a meaningful Offer to your list.

It may sound simple yet many businesses just don’t get it.

Take for instance this poor email marketing example received by Kim Radok of Credit Matters.  Kim forwarded this to me and boy does it show what not to do !

This is ‘shotgun marketing’.  Where they are firing multiple-simultaneous messages into cyberspace hoping to get a response.

It’s a bit like what duck hunters do.  They fire blindly into a flock of ducks hoping they hit one.  Ducks do get killed by shotgun pellets but there are flocks of ducks flying around with lead-laden bellies because the buckshot did not hit the right target.

Be more specific and exact with your email marketing.
